Nepal’s tourist trade is alive and well and built on the backs of an estimated 60,000 local porters who carry heavy loads up and down the mountains for visitors. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayan landscape, Journey of the Red Fridge takes us on a four day trek with 17-year-old Hari Rai as he carries a broken Coca-Cola refrigerator from a Nepali guest house up and down the mountains to get it fixed. In this slice of life documentary we learn of Hari Rai’s hopes to have enough money to further his education and the dreams he has of leaving behind his life as a porter.
